"It profits me but little that a vigilant authority always protects the tranquillity of my pleasures and constantly averts all dangers from my path, without my care or concern, if this same authority is the absolute master of my liberty and my life."

How sweet it is!   Cards 1, Phillies 0.

Chris Carpenter pitched the game of a lifetime, a three-hit shutout on the road with everything on the line against arguably the game's best pitcher, Roy Halladay.   What a great, great game.    Now, on to the Brewers.   I'll be wearing red around town next week, believe me.
