"It profits me but little that a vigilant authority always protects the tranquillity of my pleasures and constantly averts all dangers from my path, without my care or concern, if this same authority is the absolute master of my liberty and my life."

Smile of the Day

Occasionally you have to ignore politics and revert to first things.   On that note, here is Archbishop Dolan of New York, formerly of Milwaukee, a great and good man, and a happy warrior for Christ:

We once took Archbishop Dolan to a Cardinals-Brewers game in my firm's box as a charity auction item.  Great fun!   (He's secretly a Cardinals fan, which makes sense in an ironic/prophetic kind of way.   I'd be shocked if he weren't elevated to the College of Cardinals very soon.)
