"It profits me but little that a vigilant authority always protects the tranquillity of my pleasures and constantly averts all dangers from my path, without my care or concern, if this same authority is the absolute master of my liberty and my life."

The Solyndra Plot Thickens

Apparently the remaining skeleton crew of employees at Solyndra -- the failed "green jobs" company that borrowed more than $500 million from the federal as part of Obama's stimulus -- are being turned away this morning, and the FBI has raided the company's offices.   Here's a nugget buried in the online story:

Solyndra officials made numerous visits -- 20 -- to the White House, according to logs and reporting by The Daily Caller.

Solyndra officials in the logs included chairman and founder Christian Gronet and board members Thomas Baruch and David Prend, according to the Caller.

Hmmm... let's see if we can find out who Messrs. Gronet, Baruch and Prend gave money to in the 2010 election cycle.   A casual click of the mouse to opensecrets.org and.... voila!

Christian Gronet.... $1,000 to Barbara Boxer, liberal Democratic Senator from California.

Thomas Baruch.... $10,000 to the Democratic Senatorial Committee, $2,400 to Barney Frank, liberal Democratic Congressman from Massachusetts, among other donations.

David Prend... $1,000 to Ed Markey, liberal Democratic Congressman from Massachusetts.

Hmmm... so they are big and habitual donors to liberal Democrats.   Add that to the picture drawn here by the Daily Caller:

Shareholders and executives of Solyndra, a green energy company producing solar panels, fundraised for and donated to the Obama administration to the tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Tulsa billionaire George Kaiser, a key Obama backer who raised between $50,000 and $100,000 for the president’s election campaign, is one of Solyndra’s primary investors. Kaiser himself donated $53,500 to Obama’s 2008 election campaign, split between the DSCC and Obama For America. Kaiser also made several visits to the White House and appeared at some White House events next to Obama officials.
Campaign finance records show Kaiser and Solyndra executives and board members donated $87,050 total to Obama’s election campaign.

They call this corruption where I come from.

  1. To make it even worse, they are reporting that even though it was taxpayer money...it was set up so that if it failed KAISER would receive $75,000,000...NOT the taxpayers!
