"It profits me but little that a vigilant authority always protects the tranquillity of my pleasures and constantly averts all dangers from my path, without my care or concern, if this same authority is the absolute master of my liberty and my life."

Jane Russell

Jane Russell had died.   I happened on this very wistful tribute from a gay man, comparing her to the "modern" sensation, Lady Gaga.   He says it's no contest:

"So, in summary – One is hot and unfortunately now dead. The other…. Eww….. Lady Gaga makes me ashamed to be gay."
I agree.   (On the Jane Russell versus Lady Gaga part, not the gay part. :))

Here she is in "Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend."  Classic campiness.
