"It profits me but little that a vigilant authority always protects the tranquillity of my pleasures and constantly averts all dangers from my path, without my care or concern, if this same authority is the absolute master of my liberty and my life."

You Can't Negotiate With Crazy People

This is the apotheosis -- or is it the nadir -- of modern liberalism:
The city of Detroit faces a major financial crisis and one member of city council thinks President Barack Obama should step in and help.

City Council member JoAnn Watson said Tuesday the citizens support of Obama in last month's election was enough reason for the president to bailout the struggling the city.

"Our people in an overwhelming way supported the re-election of this president and there ought to be a quid pro quo...  After the election of Jimmy Carter, the honorable Coleman Alexander Young, he went to Washington, D.C. and came home with some bacon.  That's what you do."
Well, that about sums it up.   Remember when Mitt Romney said after the election that Obama had won by essentially buying the votes of his constituencies?   Remember how he was pilloried for that?   Now apparently it's OK to admit that that's exactly what the Democratic Party stands for.   Vote for Obama, Vote for Liberalism, Vote for the Democratic Party, and they will use the power of the state to extract protection money from the productive classes to give to the least productive and most dysfunctional communities.

At some point, what Ms. Watson doesn't realize is that YOU RUN OUT OF OTHER PEOPLE'S MONEY.
